Silver crown, with King Ferdinand VII on the obverse. As was true for all Spanish colonial 8 reales, this type was legal tender in the United States until 1857. The Spanish 8 reales were widely imitated when they circulated, and some of the imitiations are more valuable than the originals. In my opinion, this is probably one of the contemporary imitations. The coin has various scratches, which should be visible in the photos.
