Description
WWII Paper Money Collection Wow! This auction is for an absolutely amazing collection of paper money and ephemera from World War II. The original owner was stationed with the Australian military in New Guinea and served as a liaison between the US military and the Australians. As a result, he made many friends in the Australian military and traveled expensively with them during the war. He was also in charge of searching the Japanese dead and POWs and collected lots of great souvenirs from the war. This album is filled with all the currency and money that he took from those Japanese and traded with other soldiers. There are some great occupational monies here, including those if the US was ever invaded as well as several other countries. Then, there are tons of great Japanese bills that must have been signed by loved ones for good luck, but I can not translate the printing. My favorite part of this collection is all the signed bills that the soldier had autographed – sometimes by entire divisions of the Australian and US military. I see bills signed by soldiers and they give their division and even home town. Some of them have Australian addresses! I think a few were even signed by Japanese POW friendlies. It is just an amazing collection! I can’t express how rare this find is and it should really be in a museum. The original owner eventually became a Hollywood movie star! Tons of great potential here. Some of the bills might be signed by USO type celebrities, but I did not look through the whole thing. The reason I say that is because several months ago I sold a Bob Hope Australian dollar from this collection and another group signed bill (one sold for over $250 and the other over $150, so you can see the quality here). I have not taken any more bills out since and just need to move it out of inventory. I was planning on selling them individually, but they really should be stuck together and I think they are more important and valuable this way. Amazing collection! Guaranteed old and authentic! The bills are in varying condition – some have seen battle and others are pretty clean, but nothing is crisp uncirculated. I will indeed provide the soldiers name at the end of the auction and a short story about his life! There are a total of about 85 pieces in the album - give or take a couple. Bidder pays $8.50 for shipping and handling via USPS Mail within the United States. International bidders please email me for shipping cost if they are not disclosed in the below Shipping and Handling section. Also, International Bidders please keep in mind that all items with a final closing value of US$20.00 or more will require insurance. It is very inexpensive and will protect the shipment against loss. Insurance will be purchased from a 3rd party insurer (find out more at DSIinsurance.com), which provides much better coverage. I accept personal checks, money orders and credit cards via Paypal. I charge a 5.1% sales tax to all Wisconsin residents - sorry, it's mandatory! Thanks for bidding! Shipping rules: If you happen to win more than one auction and live in the United States I will GREATLY discount shipping. Obviously, the discount will depend on the weight of each individual item and the physical characteristics of the shipment. Discount will be determined once all auctions are closed, or you can email me for the exact cost prior to the auctions closing. Sorry, international shipping is quite a bit more expensive; however, I will still discount shipping. Return Policy: Returns are accepted on items in the event there is a discrepancy between the item description above and the actual condition of the item. I am also always willing, at my discretion, to work with the bidder to make sure their experience is positive, and will often return items if it’s not what the bidder expected. Please inquire before bidding if this is unclear. A request for return must be made within 3 days of delivery – there are NO exceptions to this rule. Bleeding_gums rules: Payment must be received within 10 days of auction close. Insurance is not included in shipping cost, but insurance is available on all items at the buyer’s request and expense.
