Why own only the coin when you can own BOTH the coin AND the medal?!!! photos enlarged to show details              During World War II, the German War Machine possessed what for those times was a highly advanced missile technology.  The Nazis exploited this technology to send prodigious pernicious volleys of "buzz bombs" to mercilessly bombard London, reducing much of the city to rubble.  The Nazi intent was not just to destroy and kill but to break the will of the Brits who at that time in the War stood alone against the Nazis.  Instead of breaking the will of the British, the Nazi bombings strengthened it along with their resolve to fight on to victory.  St. Paul's Cathedral, miraculously unscathed by the bombing, stood as an icon symbolizing this nation's indestructible and unwavering resolve.         One side of the coin shows St. Paul's Cathedral behind the "V" for victory sign formed by floodlights just the way it appeared on the night of VE Day at the end of WWII.  In the surround are the denomination "TWO POUNDS" and the year WWII ended along with the year of mintage which is the 60th Anniversary of the end of WWII: "1945 - 2005."   The other side of the coin features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.              The special commemorative medal has the official Ministry of Defence 60th Anniversary logo on one side and on the other side has an image of bells ringing out in celebration of the end of WWII.   Pardon blurriness in photos of coin and medal due to their being taken with coin and medal still covered by plastic as they have never been removed. Coin is bimetallic but color in photo reflects ambient colors of brochure; medal is silvery colored but photo also reflects ambient colors of brochure.
