The piece, shown next to a silver 1937 Crown emphasises how large the medal is. It therefore might have been a large FOB medal or, just as likely, a pendant piece. It is 45mm high. Has suspension frame and loop and bears a GWM impress along with STG SIL. The medal as a map of the state - which is pretty well HALF of Australia- over which is laid the state symbol- the black swan- which in this case is silver! The swan is set in high relief and looks the part! If YOU are either a dealer OR a collector you WILL be aware how sought after this medal will be. As a commemorative it SHOULD be in the Carlsile catalogue but it wasn't yet discovered! This only came to light two weeks ago in an estate sale that came our way. It's "dance- or get off the stage" if you want THIS one! Value is hard to determined BUT the fact is- that ALL such Australia items - whether they are medals, Coins, Stamps etc are TOP INVESTMENT MATERIAL with great demand.
