Its forerunner is AN-24 aircraft which has been already in service for forty years. AN-140 aircraft performed its first flight in 2002. It has high performance capability and is in serial production at Kharkiv aircraft factory. On the coin obverse  at the centre of the beads circle there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine placed within the frame of allegoric composition made of sun, conventionalized wing, birds and stars which is the incarnation of the dream of mankind to reach outer space, and circular inscriptions:on the silver coin - УКРАЇНА, 2004, 10, ГРИВЕНЬ, as well as designation of metal Ag 925 and its pure weight - 31,1; there is the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.
