Description
Untitled Document Thraco-Macedonian Silver One-Piece Fibula (400BC) RR!Hammered from a Single Silver Ingot. 1/2 Stater Weight! Material: Silver Condition: Intact Period: 4th Century BC Culture: Thracian/Macedonian Weight: 5.6gm (1/2 Stater weight!) Lenght: 37.3mm / 1.47 Inches Height: 17.5mm / 0.69 Inches At your attention a rare example of a silver fibula hammered skillfully by a greek (thracian/macedonian) silversmith to the present shape from a single silver ingot. With the weight of a half thracian silver stater and the equal silver purity, this item was not only jewllery and a status symbol, but also a favored exchange item among thracian and celtic tribes, replacing other equivalent silver currency. Thraco-Macedonian, around 4th century BC. Very rare and gorgeus! A rare and incredibly well preserved ancient masterpiece! Divided into separate tribes, the Thracians did not manage to form a lasting political organization until the Odrysian state was founded in the 4th century BC. According to the ancient sources, which are limited, the mountainous regions were home to various warlike and ferocious tribes, while the plains peoples were apparently more peaceable, owing to contacts and influences from the Greeks. All items listed are guaranteed to be authentic ancient originals and as described. No returns without cogent reason. All returns must be pre-authorized. Accepted payments: PayPal, European Wire Transfer, Reg. Letter.
