Description
This is part of a small but special accumulation recently consigned to me by someone to whom I'll simply give the codename "Geronimo". "Geronimo" has given me some nice coins and tokens to list, and instructed me to list them all as 99-cent true auctions, so be sure to check the list! Quite often an eBay seller will have a "no returns" policy on consignments, but "Geronimo" and I want you to be pleased with your purchases, so we WILL accept returns if you are less than completely satisfied. However, if such an unlikely situation should arise, it is important that you communicate with me ASAP before leaving feedback! The titles (in caps) and any grades assigned are Geronimo's. Accuracy of any additional information in these listings is my responsibility. This is a Turkish gold 25-kurush coin with the head of Kemal Ataturk on the obverse... and in mirror-image on the reverse, as well! It is a brockage error, caused when a fully-struck coin stuck to the dies. Though I have seen other errors on Turkish coins of this denomination, brockages in general are quite rare. A brockage error coin is desirable in itself, but a brockage error on a GOLD coin is DOUBLY impressive! I believe this is the KM#870 "Monnaie De Luxe" type, which was struck in .917 fine gold with a bullion weight of .0517 ounces. Obviously, because of the brockage, the reverse design including the date is missing, but the KM#870 type was struck between 1942 and 1980. This coin is Brilliant Uncirculated with bright yellow-gold luster that only partially shows in the scans below.*PLEASE NOTE: these "Geronimo" consignment lots do not belong to me and I am NOT authorized to accept private offers or create Buy-It-Now prices for them. The owner wants them to be sold at auction, and so they shall be. If you really want this item, bid high! They are true auctions with a low start and no reserve... you can't get more fair than that. So please put your best foot forward, and thanks for your interest!
