PMG 25 1875 $1 BOSTON, MA, THE SHAWMUT NATIONAL BANK, displaying the serial number B310006/24302 Charter number 582, showing plate B, signatures of Allison and Wyman. Also displaying bold original PEN ink signatures on the notes bottom obverse. The obverse has a painting of two maidens before an altar, designed by T.A Liebler and engraved by Charles Burt. The reverse design features, "The Landing of the Pilgrims," engraved by Charles Burt. The borders are in black along with the painting, with the most beautiful red color seal and serial numbers still bursting off the notes original paper after all this time. These note were issued in denominations from 1 to 1000 Dollars, there being two issues: The Original Series and the Series of 1875. Notes of this period rank among the most beautiful examples of American Currency. The obverse bear vignettes pertaining to American History or tradition; the reverses, show some of the famous paintings on Americana that hang in the Capitol at Washington.
