Description
PIETILA Store Scarce $2.00 Feb 26 1777 Continental Note (Balitimore) Very Scarce $2.00 Baltimore Issued 1777 Continental/Colonial Note in mid-grade condition. Couple of tiny pin holes and somewhat major splitting along the centerfold, but the note is intact and presents well. There is no restoration attempts, so this note has not been messed with. There are a couple of corner folds and some softness of the thick rag-paper, but that should be expected at this F+/VF grade level. The $2.00 denomination is Very Difficult to acquire in any condition, especially for a Baltimore Issued Note. Furthermore, this note is signed by Joshua Barney, perhaps one of the most heroic patriots of not only the Revolutionary War, but also as a hero of the War of 1812. Do a Goggle search on his name, or see WIKIPEDIA's site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joshua_Barney for further biographical information. The serial number 24334 of this note is light, but legible - while the other signature above Barney is too light for me to decifer. Embedded thick blue threads can seen above Barney's signature, while small reflective mica flakes on the surface both act as anti-counterfeiting devices. An original and genuine example of our early monetary history. All-in-all, a more than acceptable example for this denomination and from this Baltimore emmision. Purchased from Stacks a few years ago. Successful bidder shall pay $6.85 for insured 1st Class USPS shipping/handling.
