Description
Outstanding and scarce 19th century Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exposition, bronze 25.5 mm souvenir token. Also struck in white metal and I believe silver plated, as well. This is very lightly circulated, a bit dark over the 1/3 top of the obverse, also it is just toning and not a problem. Nice piece from a rather obscure international expo but that is collected along with major world's fairs and expositions. Tough to find much from this expo, but we're always looking and happy when we can find something. We may be able to acquire an award medal from the expo, as well, but we're not sure yet--but it's a piece we hope to have. RECENT ACQUISITIONS FROM LONG BEACH SHOW/AUCTION: We recently completed a buying trip and will have some really superb Civil War tokens and medals to offer as soon as we complete inventory. We purchased a significant amount at auction and also from private collectors. Among those we have just acquired (we will be inventorying the rest of the month and listing on ebay beginning about October first): --Large Sanitary Fair medal, choice BU --Silver and copper small Philadelphia Sanitary Fair medals from choice to gem BU --Two outstanding sutler tokens, both quite scarce --Approximately 50 Civil War tokens, including rarities and numerous BU tokens SHIPPING: All of our lots are normally a flat $3.00 for first-class shipping and we combine to save the buyer shipping costs. INSURANCE: Insurance is optional but without it obviously the buyer is at risk should anything be lost or damaged in shipping. NON-US/CANADA TRANSACTIONS: We will always try to ship abroad, but you'll need to be patient, pay ONLY IN US FUNDS and have a solid ebay rating. It's not the customers who make us nervous, but the often unreliable postal systems outside the country. If you can pay with US funds, are fine with uninunsured shipping (or if you have suggestions for your country) and are not in a hurry, then by all means contact us and do bid on our merchandise. METHODS OF PAYMENT: We accept checks and money orders (personal, bank or business checks are just fine) but we do NOT use PayPal. WIth ebay forcing everyone to switch to PayPal or a facsimile, we'll have no choice and get set up to make the change in October. MAJOR AUCTION WITH HERITAGE, PRELIMINARY POSTING NOW ON THEIR WEBSITE! Our auction of World's Columbian Exposition tickets, paper and ephemera, and also outstanding Civil War paper and ephemera lots, is coming from Heritage Auctions November 12. For details about our 500 items in about 150 lots, please just send us an email and we'll make sure you receive a copy of the Heritage catalog. We're very excited about the November auction and the sale of our personal collection of Columbian tickets represents the finest and most complete collection offered at auction in more than twenty years. The Civil War material, along with other Americana, will be offered in the same auction as well as in other upcoming Heritage auctions. Again, just ask and we'll share information as it becomes available and guarantee that you receive the full-color catalog; the material will also be auctioned on line through Heritage. FEEDBACK. We will always leave feedback, although we generally do many at once so we do not do it every day. Please be patient. If you have questions on our other ebay listings please ask. We've been on ebay almost 10 years and in business since 1979. With more than 4,000 net feedbacks, we're working hard to ensure everyone is pleased with what they purchase from us.
