Description
PIETILA store Rare VF 1745 MoMF Mexican Pillar Half Dollar / 4-Reales Very rare and attractive Mexican 1745 MoMF 4 Reales or "Pillar Half Dollar". Pillar Half Dollars are thought to be at least 10 times more scarce than Pillar Dollars (8-Reales), while authentic Pillar Dollars are not at all common. Checking Heritage's Auction Archive Site, they have offered only 5 or 6 Pillar Half Dollars in the last few years, while they have sold dozens of Pillar Dollars. This coin is a bit difficult to grade because the reverse is much stronger than the obverse. The detail on this coin is F+/VF on the obverse and a bold VF+/XF on the reverse. Perhaps an overall a grade of VF would be appropriate (or a split grade of F+/XF would also describe this coin). This example weights 13.12 grams and this type of large silver coin was used extensively in Colonial America. Absolutely genuine! and a wonderful example of a 4-Reales Pillar Coin that is not offered at auction very often. Attractive and original light tan/grey toning on this very historical coin. Purchased from a Richard A. Long Auction about 10 years ago. Successful bidder shall pay $8.85 for insured 1st Class USPS shipping/handling. International may be a bit more. Auction Starts @ $0.99 w/ NO RESERVE!This item will sell to the highest bidder.View My Other Items For Sale, you may find something interesting!
