Kelsey serving the 6th Ohio Volunteers. Very rare piece of uncut currency with three complete notes. Soldier would sign this currency/check sized document when he bought something from the sutler's store and then the sutler would turn in the voucher to be reimbursed from the soldier's pay. Essentially, a credit transaction at the front--extending credit to the sutler's customers in the field. Pretty much risk free as the U.S. Government guaranteed to pay the sutler the following payday. Great and displayable document, each of three the size of a contemporary personal check.
