Description
This wonderful coin was purchased from a major dealer in ancient coins. At the time he/I believed it to be an authentic silver denarii of Severus Alexander, an ancient Roman Emperor who ruled between 222 and 235 A.D. Further study suggests that it is actually either a restrike or contemporary to the period counterfeit. Even in Roman times there were people who were willing to cut corners. As such, it is a very rare item. Should it prove to be a different emperor or prove to be real, that is an added benefit. I am an expert in Spanish Coins, not Roman coins. This should be in any collection of ancient coins from this early period.
