Description
SquareTrade © AP6.0 fancycashcom store RARE FANCY LOW SERIAL 1974 $1 #L00000065A IN GEM CU! About the Item It is our pleasure for Niche Numismatics--The Market Maker in Low, Fancy and Matched Serials and other Rare Coin and Currency Niche Items--to present to you an exceedingly rare and special item for auction: RARE RARE FANCY LOW SERIAL 1974 $1 #L00000065A IN GEM CU! WOW!!! Here's one note to astonish you. It is one of the prides of my collection, but its time to put it out there. Yes, another rare double digit low serial from the coveted "A" suffix--first print run--but this one has a further story. In 1974 William Simon, Secretary of the Treasury of the US, put together an unknown number of $1s District Sets from the first pack of notes printed from the series. We don't know how many, if any he presented to VIPs. What we do know is that in his estate after he passed on in 2000, was an incomplete set of nine #2 notes, and 6 or 7 (can't remember exactly) other "$1 Presentation Sets" as they have been termed, in the serial 20s. I wonder if the #00000001 set is out there somewhere?! Anyway, since I have previously owned the G00000033A, it stands to reason that for certain no sets above 32 were not made and it is likely that the last serial # set is #26 or #27 (again sorry I can't remember the exacts right now). I owned one for about 5 years and finally sold it off recently for a little under 10K. These were the original "Premium Sets"--full district sets of matching serials from the first notes printed. They had one anomaly though--the G notes in all sets were replaced with equivalent notes in the 40s. It reasons that the Gs in the #20s and 30s got messed up. Because of its historical significance, being one of the first notes printed in this series (coveted "A" Suffix) and not used in the $1 Presentation Sets, I bought this note many years back and have been hoarding it for quite a while. Its part of a larger hoard of notes low serials notes I possess. In case you are not aware, since 1988 the first 300 notes from the "A" Suffix first print run, are pulled by BEP/Federal Reserve policy and not . I bought it as a GEM CU and I am sure it will have no problem grading GEM CU-65 or better. I would grade it easily as GEM-67 or 68. Very Bright Paper, Inks and Incredible Centering on both sides. Well that's that. With the way low and fancy serials continue to climb in value, these notes should appreciate substantially. Even with prices dropping in other investment markets, low and fancy serials continue to go through the roof! I am sure you will be happy with this beauty, especially at this very reasonable price. I priced it a few dollars less than then #47 I have up for auction from the same pack. But as with many of my auctions, should you feel my pricing is too high, you are free to make an offer, should you disagree. You never know what I will accept on any given day, depending on my cash flow needs. You might just get lucky. You do run the risk of the note being sold to someone who is happy to acquire it at the fair asking price, while I consider it though, or to a higher offer should yours be low and unrealistic. Anyway, steal it if you can! Please look at our other auctions. Many Single and Double Digit FRNs.
