See more about 'RARE Art Deco br.medal by Mascaux,1928:Japanese Garden' Description XXRARE Art Deco br.medal by Mascaux, 1928:Japanese Garden (starting price: USD $49.99 NO RESERVE) Obv/ A Japanese Lady standing to the right in her Garden is taking care of her Chrysanthemums Rev/ within a crown made of Flowers, there is a round cartouche with the following inscription : "Congres Chrysantemistes, Biarritz 1928" ( Chrysanthemums Conference, Biarritz-Bask Country- 1928) Information and bibliography: This VERY RARE gold plated bronze medal was engraved by Leon Claude Mascaux. He was born in 1882 and he was known as a sculptor more than as an engraver of medals. Interesting thing to say: he won a gold medal during the 1924 Paris Olympics as a sculptor! Leon-Claude Mascaux worked with the greatest Artists of the Art Deco period (especially for the Canale Art Shop). We could say he was a precursor and his style of engraving had a real influence on many, many engravers! We are glad to inform you that the next International Numismatic Show in Paris will be on Saturday October 11th . It will happen like every time at the beautiful Palais Brongniart deep in the heart of Paris (former Stock Exchange Building). It is organised by the SNENNP (Syndicat National des Experts Numismates et Numismates Professionnels) twice a year.
