Description
AUTHENTIC EARLY WESTERN STOCK CERTIFICATE FROM THE COLORADO - DAKOTA MINING AND MILLING COMPANY Incorporated (in August of 1900) Under the Laws of the State of South Dakota DEADWOOD, S.D.  (printed above the date at bottom) Beautiful and rare Black Hills certificate. This is the first stock I have seen from this company and I have been doing this a long time. Issued 106 years ago to Chambers Kellar on April 17th, 1902. Chambers Kellar was a well-known Black Hills attorney. I would assume this was a gold mining operation. Issued for an astonishing 1,600,000 shares!!! At a dollar each the purchase price was $1.6 million. This is the largest number of shares I have seen on a mining certificate. Mr. Kellar was obviously a very wealthy man. A shiny-gold corporate seal is clearly punched into the document. Relatively early stock# 29. I believe the presidents signature reads, Chas E. Giddings. The printing style is quite unique. The center vignette shows a detailed view of the mining operation. Also notice the woman in the right & left border. Reverse is ornate as well. Printed by the Auggast Bank Note Co. St. Louis. Nice condition with a miner water stain on the right side but nothing serious. Pen cancelled. This one represents a LOT of Black Hills mining history - don't let it pass you by!    Quite large - it did not fit entirely on my scanner so some of the border does not show in the scan below. Measures about 12 & 1/2 x 9 & 1/2 inches. Winning bidder pays $3.95 for shipping & extra-strength packaging. (Shipping is $5.00 for Canadian buyers and $6.00 for all other non-US buyers) Insurance is optional but recommended for items over $50. I will accept a money order or cashiers/certified check. Personal checks welcome if you have good feedback on eBay. PAYPAL IS ACCEPTED - SHIPPING IS FREE FOR ANY ADDITIONAL COMBINED ITEMS!!! YOUR QUESTIONS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME.... I have been in this business for many years and sell only real historical documents. This is NOT a reproduction - guaranteed. You can bid with confidence. ~ Old stocks & bonds make great gifts...and look very nice framed in the home or office ~ Check out my other items!
