Description
This extraordinary Potosi eight reales cob was struck in 1619 under the rule of Philip IIII of Spain. The coin was salvaged from the treasure ship "Nuestra Senora de Atocha," which sank off the coast of Florida in 1622. A Grade One certificate of authenticity that is also registered on the official Mel Fisher's Treasures website is included with this gem, Coin No. 85A-124873. The obverse features a wonderful Spanish shield with the mintmark "P" and assayer initial "T" to the left. The reverse cross is fully struck and bold with lions and castles in the quadrant. The "619" of the date is complete and bold between ten and twelve o'clock. We have never seen a finer specimen of this RARE date . . . certainly a candidate for the finest known. A museum-worthy coin of the highest quality and rarity!!!! (Images may be enlarged or reduced. The size of this coin is 30 X 35 mm.) *** Shipping charges will be $3.50 plus $1.50 per $100 value. For shipping outside of the U. S. A., please e-mail us for information and our quotation. Please allow additional shipping time for personal checks, as they must clear before items are mailed ***
