This was made by Ruth Devices Corp. of New York, N.Y. This spuriscope comes in the original box and with the instruction sheet. It has never been used but shows a bit of minor wear from having been moved around in storage a bit. Occasionally I felt a bit of "rub" when I turned the dial. I don't know what is causing it but it really doesn't affect the working of the Spuriscope in any way. The box shows a bit of wear including some staining. This device actually works on older currency - I don't remember the cut-off year. I think it was when bills were printed in sheets of 16 at the mint.
