Rev/ An Eagle Flying above Napoleon's Hat, Saber and his main master piece : the "Code Civil ". Close to the exergue : the Legion d'Honneur. All of them stand between two palm branches Information and bibliography: This gilt plated bronze medal was engraved under Napoleon III in 1869. There is not any name of engraver. Reference: Bramsem 2100 (Bramsem "Medailler Napoleon le Grand", 1904-1913). Comment: This gilt plated bronze medal is a popular item of the end of the 19th Century as the memory of the Emperor was still in the hearts. Now such items are not very easy to find. This one is in a beautiful condition (there is a very minor rim nick-or assayer mark- at 10:00/Rev.),on the obverse the gilt toning gave its place to a brown red patina while the reverse kept still its gilt toning. There is not any stamp or mark on the edge.
