Silver Argenteus (3.25 grams) mint in Alexandria between May 305 AD – March 307 AD. Until now, the exceptionally Rare Argentei of Maximinus II were known only from a single mint Serdika, with reverse that have three turreted Camp-Gate. This remarkable Argenteus of Maximinus II as Caesar from Alexandria would seem to be the second known silver coin of Maximinus II from a mint other than Serdika. Moreover the reverse type and legend “Alexandria turreted standing left supporting head of Serapis right on extended right hand and resting left hand on scepter, B in left field, ALE in exe. CONCOR-DIA AVGG” are entirely unknown for Silver coinage of this era. This coin is coming from recently found in East Europe small hoard of 36 argentei from around that period and this was the only one coin of this type in the hoard the rest of it was with Camp – Gate reverse.
