Description
1999 Nunavut Proof $2 coin with case & certificate of authenticity. Features the Drum Dance and designed by Inuit artist Germaine Arnaktauyok. Celebrates the creation of the new territory, Nunavut. The drum dance, one of the oldest and most traditional forms of Inuit music and perforamnce, is still very much part of the modern Inuit life. The drum dance is linked with Inuit spiritual life. Its solemn, hypnotic rhythms would aid the shaman into trances in which they performed supernatural feats or communicated with the spirit world. The drum signifies that the people will be heard near and far and features a map outlining Nunavut. Inside the map is a kudliq, a stone lamp that serves as a source of warmth and provides a sense of security. Beautiful piece. This Sterling Silver Proff $2 coin contains a 24 karat gold plated inner core of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. The sterling silver outer ring contains 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. It has a diameter of 28 millimetres and weighs 8.83 grams. Limited mintage of 40,000 coins worldwide. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister
