Love Tokens are coins that were taken from circulation and engraved with something special, usually a person's initials. They are referred to as Love Tokens because most were made for a special occasion and presented as a gesture of affection. [click to enlarge] The obverse of this coin has been ground down and engraved the letters "C", "H" and "E". The letters can be arranged in any order to form one's initials. An ornate border is also carved around the rim. A hole is punched in the top of the coin to allow use as a pendant.
