We sold this bond on our Wall Street History Stand for $200 and could not keep up with the demand - it's that nice.       Most Czarist Russian bonds you encounter are in pretty rough shape, with worn paper, tattered edges, tears, holes, etc. which is not surprising given their size and age. This piece is the exception to that trend. It is 100% intact with square corners and straight edges. The color is vivid, the printing crystal clear, and the paper remains as crisp and clean as new with but a single light horizontal fold, which can be "matted out" in the framing process.       Issued by the Central Imperial Government of Russia, the bond is dated between 1889 and 1894 (earliest dates shipped first!). It is payable in 125 Gold Rubles, 500 Francs, 404 Marks, 19 Pounds 15 Shillings 6 Pence Sterling, 239 Dutch Florins or $96.25 Gold Dollars. You could transfer it in St. Petersbourg, Paris, London, Antwerp, Berlin or New York!       Beautifully engraved in black, white, pumpkin and peach, the bond has an ultra ornate border, highlighted by the Imperial 2-Headed Eagle at the top. While the front is printed entirely in Russian, the reverse (100% covered in fancy old text!) is  printed in French, German and English!! Measuring 12" x 17", this is a magnificent piece for framing.
