She said that her husband had identifed this coin as being from the time and the empire of Gengis Khan. I am not familiar with coins of this era, but its appearance is consistent with other examples from the Mongol Khanate. ~~~ The gold frame is indeed 18k solid gold, and appears to be of modern, Asian workmanship.
