Description
Civil War--Southern issue by a Confederate Railroad--the New Orleans, Jackson, & Great Northern. One dollar and fifty cent note. Issued at New Orleans Nov. 16th, 1861. Hand signed and hand numbered in pink and black ink. Reverse Blank. Very Good condition which is better than most of this issue. 2 3/4 by 6 1/8 inches. There are two varieties of these notes. This variety has the denomination vertical on right end; the other has Liberty anointing Eagle. The dollar and a half denomination is unusual--much scarcer than $3 notes. All coins were hoarded and the Confederacy, states, banks, insurance companies, merchants, and railroads issued notes in order to keep going. What a story these notes could tell if they could talk. Guaranteed to be a genuine, original Southern Civil War note. In the U. S. postage and handling is $1.25. Insurance is $1.70 up to $50, $2.15 up to $100, $2.60 for up to $200, $4.60 up to $300, $5.55 plus $.95 per $100 above that. Or can be sent at buyer's risk. Foreign without insurance $2.25 at buyer's risk. Payment by check, money order or postal money order preferred because this is a donated item and Paypal takes 5% and up service fee which they do not refund as eBay does. I will accept Paypal if that is all you have. EBay lots can be combined to save postage. Check out my other items!
