Minted almost 60 years ago, this ideal Georgian Era coin is in an exceptional state and would make an IDEAL addition to any high valued/high(est) grade Canadian coin collection. The coin is VERY white with NO tarnishing, spots or discoloration what so ever... On the reverse side, the date, the lettering and the image are all in great condition and very clear; on the obverse side, the bust of George VI is in excellent condition with regards to ALL facial features. The hair, ears, nose mouth and eyes possess sharp, crisp detail with virtually no wear and the lettering around the bust is clear and bold. Finding this coin in any condition is hard enough, but to find a 1948 dollar in such a state as this one, on the open coin market, is exceptionally difficult. The 1948 Silver $1 is an EXTREMELY scarce piece with a mintage of just 18,780 examples.....This fact makes it the RAREST PRODUCTION SILVER DOLLAR minted in Canadian numismatic history.
