This piece is Gem Brilliant Uncirculated with beautiful mirrored proof-like surfaces. The Obverse bears the effigy of Queen Elizabeth the Second with the inscription "ELIZABETH II," "CANADA1976". The Reverse bears the standing figure of the Goddess Athena with her left hand resting upon the shoulder of a standing athlete. With the upcoming Olympics in Beijing this summer, the worldwide market for historic Olympic gold coins is heating up, making pieces of this caliber harder to come by.This coin has such a highly polished proof mirror surface, the dark circle you see in the center of the coin in the photographs, both obverse and reverse, is actually a reflection of the camera lens!A must for any collector/investor of Canadian Gold and/or Olympic Gold Coins.
