I am happy to be able to offer this just finished large coin cabinet my husband designed and built for the serious coin collector. This coin cabinet measures 13-1/4" wide by 14-3/4" tall and 12-1/4" deep. Constructed of the finest cabinet grade birch, my husband will not use chipboard or particle board. This large cabinet weighs 24 pounds empty. The cabinet consists of 6 drawers and a chest storage area. I will explain each and its functions. The 6 draws are what my husband calls 2x2 drawers, each measures 10-1/2" x 4-1/2" x 2-1/8". They each have 2 rows with an adjustable divider that can be removed and they will accomodate any 2x2 holder on the market. Here's an example of storage in these drawers. The 2x2 cardboard mylars (holding nickles), you can fit 250 in each drawer, total for 6 drawers would be 1,500. If you use the 2x2 plastic snap tights, each drawer will hold 92 or 552 for the 6 drawers total. The chest area can be used for many things if you use your imagination, for example, you can store up to 4 rows of slabs at 24 slabs per row or you can use 3 rows for slabs and the rest for coin rolls or you can mix and match 2-1/2 x 2-1/2's in one row and store slabs in the rest. I could go on and on. The chest area can be used for whatever you feel is appropriate for your collection. The chest area measures inside 11-1/8" wide x 10-7/8 deep x 3-5/8" high. There are four adjustable dividers that can be moved around or taken out, so it gives you plenty of options. The cabinet has 2 coats of Antique Walnut oil-based stain and 3 coats of clearcoat finish and the chest lid has 3 brass hinges. Each drawer has a beautiful solid brass draw pull. Some of the draw fronts have worn edges to give the appearance of an aged antique look, but still have a glass like finish. The chest and drawers are all lined with green felt to protect your precious coins from harm. The accents on front of chest are carved wood and really help to show off this cabinet. My husband put a lot of work into this cabinet and it shows. Normally drawers are just finished on the fronts, but he has stained and finished every side, end and bottom of the drawers. I asked him why and he said when you spend serious money on coins you want to be proud of the way they're displayed, specially when fellow collectors come to visit and you take one of the drawers out to compare coins and they are astonished, it really makes you feel good. With proper care this is sure to be an item that you can pass down to the next generation. This cabinet is sure to please any coin collector so get your bid in early.
