The fields are wonderfully smooth and untouched while the surface gleams with its bright original luster. In 1924, the San Francisco Mint produced just over 1.7 million Peace Dollars. Most of this mintage was lost to circulation or destroyed during the massive bullion melts of the 1930s. Only a small fraction have survived to in high choice-grade condition like the coin being offered here today. Note that only 1 1924-S Peace Dollar has been graded higher than this one by NGC, making this specimen one of the best known examples of its mintage you can possibly find.
