BOX 20 $10 LOW POP RARE GOLD 1984W NGC PF70UC As of August 2007, there have only been 600 1984w PF 70 UC ½ ounce Olympic Gold coins graded by NGC, and we have a large controlling interest. Our Consignor, Mr. Big, has enough of these that he wanted us to put together a group large enough where we can singles, boxes of 20, and only one lot of 100 coins! This is a very special coin, aside from spectacular beauty. First, even though the denomination says $10, it is actually a half-ounce. Secondly, this is the first gold coin manufactured by the United States Mint in over 50 years. We like this coin for many reasons, mostly because when you compare it in terms of population, mintage and rarity, to some older or newer US coins (whether they be modern commemorative or older regular denomination issues), this really becomes an attractive investment, if you are lucky enough to be able to buy them in bulk quantities. When you compare this coin to the last half-ounce coin that the US Mint struck and released in any kind of quantity, you can compare it to the 1932 $10 Indian gold coin. The mintage of the 1984 W Olympic Gold PF 70 is 381,000. The mintage of the 1932 $10 Indian was 4,463,000. NGC has graded (all grades) for the 1932 $10 Indian gold, 30,874 pieces. For the 1984 $10 Proof Coin, NGC has graded 2,200 PF69 (one grade lower) and only 502 in NGC PF70.When you do a price analysis on the PCGS price guide, the price guide tends to be on the high side (especially when talking about NGC coins). Hopefully, what one realizes is as of August of 2007, the PCGS price guide for a 1932 $10 Indian gold graded MS65, prices for $6000. The reason we chose MS65 as our closest comparative grade is because in the NGC census report as of August 2007, the population for that date in the grade MS65 equals 1,535 coins. The closest to the 502 1984 PF 70 $10 coins. A properly graded $10 Indian in MS65 can certainly be obtained by an astute buyer for less than the $6000 PCGS price guide price…Mr. Big is a motivated seller on the 1984-W $10 Proof Olympic gold coins. And there are two simple facts about his motivation. First, NGC has graded roughly 20 times more of those perfect 1984-W proof coins than PCGS. Second, Mr. Big is motivated about big deals, and this is a BIG deal! We can offer these to you on a Make Your Offer price in quantity at unprecedented deals. This is a good comparison to the First Spouse Gold 2007-W coin. The Martha Washington PF70 NGC Census is 1,014. Here is a great comparison! The 1984-W is 23 years older and over twice as rare already as the Martha Washington. You might say that the mintage is very low on the Martha Washington. This is true but the survival ratio on the Martha Washington is so much higher than it is on the 1984 Olympic. The culture within the coin collecting community when the 1984 Olympic coin came out thought that it was just another souvenir concerning the Olympics. Hundreds of thousands of these things have been melted down over the years or squander away a few coins at a time. (KVMK) For more information about us, please check out our About Me page. Ask for the president, Ken, and we will do whatever we can to make you happy, PERIOD! Unwelcome and Malicious Buying: Once in a blue moon, pun intended, we make a typographical error in one of our listings. For example, if we have the Buy It Now of a 1oz gold coin set at 99 cents that would be a typographical error. If this, or something similar happens, or you suspect it might have happened, we request that you call us to confirm the auction. By not calling us and just purchasing the item listed, you are violating the terms of this auction and placing an unwelcome and malicious bid. Thus nullifying the purchase. We would like to thank you in advance for your understanding and for following this simple rule. SquareTrade © AP6.0
