Dundas in 1925, 2.5 inches or 63 mm in diameter, signed by Adolph Alexander Weinman with his monogram on the reverse, marked "566 - 1925" on the rim, in excellent condition with rich patina. Although not marked on the medal, according to the Marqusee catalog, the Theodore Newton Vail medal was created by the Medallic Art Company, New York following the death of Vail in 1920. Vail had been the president of AT&T, who commissioned the medal to award to those in telephone industry who provided noteworthy public service. The reverse of the medal has a classic allegorical image that is representative of Weinman’s skill. This medal is catalog number 394 in the Marqusee Collection of American Medallic Art, and catalog number 184 in Baxter, "The Beaux-Arts Medal is America." Awarded medals are scarce and desirable.
