To celebrate and commemorate the XXI Olympic Games in Montreal 1976, Canada issued a series of silver coins in five and ten dollar denominations. The series ran from 1973 to 1976. There were seven pairs of designs in each denomination, making fourteen different designs of coins in each, and twenty eight in total.  1976 Montreal Olympic 28 Piece Commemorative Silver Coin Set set consists of 14 coins of $5.00 denomination and 14 coins of $10.00 denomination. Each of the seven series contains two $10 coins and two $5 coins, a total of twenty-eight different coins in Seven themed series as follows: Series I - Geographical: World Map, Montreal Skyline, Sailboats Kingston, Map of North America. Series II - Ancient Olympia Motifs: Head of Zeus, Temple of Zeus, Olympic Rings, Athlete with Torch. Series III - Early Canadian Sports: Cycling, Lacrosse, Rowing, Canoeing. Series IV - Track & Field Events: Men's Hurdles, Ladies Shot Put, Marathon, Ladies Javelin. Series V - Water Sports: Sailing, Paddlers, Swimmer, Diver. Series VI - Team & Body Contact Sports: Football, Field Hockey, Fencing, Boxing.
