Description
2008 proof platinum sure is shaping up to be an interesting year in the numismatic world. This year has a total of only 60 possible sets in PF70 with the Early Release insert. If this ends up being 'the new low year' (who knows at this point), this will be creme de la creme of this years edition with this insert. Either way, the low pop does make it special. This listing is for newly released 2008 W (West Point Mint) PROOF 4 coin American Platinum Eagle encapsulated and graded as a PF 70 UC (Ultra Cameo) by NGC with the EARLY RELEASE inserts. featuring the 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz $100, $50, $25, $10. 2008 marks the 12th year that Platinum Eagles were minted continuing the legacy of the US Mint's ever-popular Eagle Bullion Program. In 2006, the US Mint introduced a new 3 year changing reverse series called the "Foundations of American Democracy" for the Proof and Burnished W (uncirculated) coin sets. The Reverse designs for 2006, 2007 and 2008 feature an emblematic image of 1 of the 3 branches of government- the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches. In 2008, the reverse features the third design in the series – representing the Judicial Branch. The design features Lady Justice, a classic symbol dating back to Greek and Roman times. In her right hand, the scales are suspended from one finger, representing the delicate balance of the law. In the other hand she holds the sword, signifying the power that is held by those making the decision. The bald eagle, our Nation’s symbol of power, courage and freedom, is featured watching over our firm foundation of democracy. The 2008 reverse design was created by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program Master Designer Joel Iskowitz and engraved by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Charles Vickers. A few more tidbits about platinum: Platinum was only discovered in the 16th century and is at least 15 times rarer than gold and 150 times rarer than silver. Platinum gained 24% in 2002, 33% in 2003 and another 5% last year. International shipping: NOT AVAILABLE ON THIS ITEM! Sales Tax: NJ Residents add 7% RETURN POLICY 98% of the coins I sell are certified and graded by a 3rd party grading company (TPG) - PCGS, NGC, ICG, ANACS, etc. (the major and most credible ones). Each grading company ultimately has a guarantee on the coins they grade and slab, which may be different from each other. Please be aware of the grading company's coins policies are that you are buying. Before any returns are accepted, you must contact me via e-mail or phone to discuss the specific issues with the item being returned within three days of recepit of the coin(s). Please take into consideration that "I am not a professional coin grader." If you disagree with the grade on the holder, you can take that up with the grading service and not me! Buyers remorse and third party grading issues are not valid reasons for a return and therefore will incur some special return fees. A broken slab or gross misrepresentation of the item are valid reasons for a return and a full refund will be issued. However, the original shipping package and USPS proof of damage if applicable must be returned inside another package in order to process your return for a full refund. No package or no USPS verification of damaged shipping slip, no refund, no exceptions! The buyer will then have the option for an exchange or a full refund. You have 7 days to return the item, the USPS delivery confirmation date will be used as reference. Customer satisfaction is my number one goal! Window shoppers have been costing me a bit of money and time, therefore the changes in my new return policy are for my protection as well as that of the serious buyer. For those items that do not meet the new return policy criteria, you will receive a refund minus all shipping fees, Ebay fees and a 20% restocking fee. SOME VERY IMPORTANT FACTORS THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BEFORE INVESTING IN THE RARE COIN MARKET RISK: The purchase of coins is highly speculative and involves substantial risk. As in other markets, coin prices can be extremely volatile and will rise and fall depending upon market conditions. Therefore, before purchasing coins, you should first have adequate cash reserves and other assets to absorb a potentially significant loss. HOLDING PERIOD: Historically, few coins have appreciated dramatically in the short term. Therefore, purchasers should recognize that it may well be necessary for them to hold coins for a 3 - 5 year period, or even a 5 - 10 year period, to have any chance of realizing a significant gain.
