Struck on specially burnished blanks, these coins offer precious metal purchasers a new collectible version of the popular American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins and feature a finish similar to their bullion coin counterparts The coins are available in four sizes – one ounce, one-half ounce, one-quarter ounce, and one-tenth ounce, as well as a four-coin set which contains one coin in each denomination. Each coin bears the “W” mint mark reflecting their striking at the United States Mint at West Point. The obverse features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ full-length figure of Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The reverse design, by sculptor Miley Busiek, features a male eagle carrying an olive branch flying above a nest containing a female eagle and her eaglets. Each coin in the 2006 American Eagle Gold Uncirculated Four-Coin Set is encapsulated in plastic and placed in a protective presentation case. The set is accompanied with a custom-designed Certificate of Authenticity. American Eagle Uncirculated Coins for Collectors American Eagle Gold Uncirculated Coin In 2006, the United States Mint introduced a collectible, uncirculated version of the popular gold, silver and platinum American Eagle Coins. This new option of precious metal coinage is being sold directly to the public and all three of the American Eagle Uncirculated Coins carry the same stunning designs found on their proof counterparts. Platinum Uncirculated Gold Uncirculated Silver Uncirculated The term "uncirculated" refers to the specialized minting process used to create these coins. Although they are similar in appearance to American Eagle Bullion Coins, these new uncirculated coins are distinguished by the presence of a mint mark, indicating their production facility, and by the use of burnished coin blanks, which are hand-fed into specially-adapted coining presses one at a time. Each American Eagle Uncirculated Coin is carefully inspected before it is encapsulated in plastic.
