Description
This authentic US Mint Platinum commemorative coin is in proof condition. This is a really terrific coin commemorating the Library of Congress. It is a bi-metallic coin, made of gold and platinum. The first US coin to be made othese two precious metals. This piece would make a spectacular acquisition for coin collectors or enthusiast. Graded by PCGS one of the best grading companies as Proof 69, Deep Cameo, very close to the perfect coin Modern US proof coins are often treated with chemicals to make certain parts of the design take on a frosted appearance, and the fields taking on a mirror finish. Several other methods have been used in the past to achieve this effect, including sand blasting the dies, and matte proofs. Proof coins of the early 1800s even appear to be scratched, but it was part of the production process. Truly a unique item, with an extremely low mintage.
