This features a mother polar bear and two cubs on it, the famous "Family of Bears" image. It is also known as the "Path of Knowledge" toonie, with the image representing the mother bear teaching her cubs and imparting her wisdom and experience on them. This proof $2 gold coin contains an inner core of 22 karat gold (91.67% gold, 4.1% silver and 4.23% copper) and an outer ring in 4.1 karat gold (17.2% gold, 77.6% silver and 5.23% copper). It has a diameter of 28 mm and weighs 11.40grams. The reverse of the coin, designed by Tony Bianco, depicts the polar bear with her cubs.
