Description
Calgary Olympics Silver Coins 1988 Complete 10 Coin Set This beautiful set of coins was issued by the Royal Canadian Mint to commemorate the Calgary Olympics of 1988. The set consists of ten sterling silver coins, each weighing one Troy ounce. Each coin has a face value of $20.00. They have been encapsulated in ultrasonically welded crystal styrene and packaged in mint condition. They have never been in circulation. The face of each coin displays the emblem of the Calgary Olympic Winter Games, the word "Calgary 1988" and below, 20 dollars. Common to all obverses are the effigy of Her Majesty The Queen and the legend "Elizabeth II - Canada - and the date". Coins 1 and 2 are dated 1895, coins 3, 4, 5, and 6 are dated 1986, and coins 7, 8, 9, and 10 are dated 1987. Coins were minted to commemorate the following events: Downhill Skiing Speed Skating Hockey Biathlon Cross-country Skiing Free-style Skiing Figure Skating Curling Ski-jumping Bobsleigh The coins come in a fitted green velvet box with slipcase.
