Description
This is a HUGE 76 mm (3 inch) in diameter, 290-gram (10.2 oz) STERLING SILVER 1985 Franklin Mint Calendar Art Medal. The subject of the medal is the “Four Seasons of Love.” The designer’s initials appear to be JA. The Medal is in CHOICE MINT condition in the case of issue. The Troy weight is 9.35 oz and the ASW is 8.65 Troy Oz ($159.57 at the 7/21/08 closing). The medal in the case weighs 432 grams (15.2 oz). The case in is excellent condition and still comes with the original cardboard slip sleeve. This is an absolute STAND OUT medal among Franklin Mint Calendar Medals – probably, next to the 1979 medal, only one of two that truly deserves the term ART medal. This is an EXTREMELY RARE medal. By the time this was issued, FM’s production was already WAY WAY DOWN and the mintage of this medal was far lower than the MACO medal of the year. I have NEVER seen another on eBay in the last 5 years. This is marked STERLING on the edge. NO reserve. I will combine postage for winning bidders of multiple items.
