They have been encapsulated in ultrasonically welded crystal styrene and packaged in mint condition. They have never been in circulation. Under the Olympic 1976 Act the number of coins minted in this series is limited. They will not be minted again. By act of Parliament, Bill C-196 established Olympic Coins as legal tender of Canada in July of 1973.
