They have been encapsulated in ultrasonically welded crystal styrene and packaged in mint condition. They have never been in circulation. Under the Olympic 1976 Act the number of coins minted in this series is limited. They will not be minted again. By act of Parliament, Bill C-196 established Olympic Coins as legal tender of Canada in July of 1973. The coins contained in each set are $10 and $5.For example: $10 - The world symbolizes the universality of the Olympic movement. $5 - North America, with Canada highlighted. $10 - The skyline of Montreal, host city to the Games. $5 - Kingston, site of the sailing events, highlights yachts against the skyline of Kingston. Each set is packaged in a black leatherette case with sky blue satin padding. A descriptive insert, printed in English and French, is included in each set. This set is in excellent condition.
