Description
Thame Show, "Greatest One Day Agricultural Show in the Country". 1950 THAME SHOW of the Shorthorn Society of the UK & Ireland, big SILVER SHOW PRIZE-MEDAL. Mint state, cased: as made. First Thame medal we have seen .... 2 inches across, weighing a heavy 2.3 Troy ounces of silver, in luxury fitted case (goldblocked and velvet lined) by Pinches. Unusually, this splendid agricultural prize medal has an overall 'satin'/matte finish (achieved by sandblasting of the dies, as on some antique RDS medals). To ASHTON and HIBBERD for Best Dairy Shorthorn Female. Thame Show is billed as The Greatest One Day Agricultural Show in the country, attracting every year a gate of approx 20,000 visitors. There is something for all ages. There are competitions for Sheep and Cattle, Horses and Showjumping with some of the country's finest riders, a Premier Dog Show which attracts an entry of 1000 dogs of all different types and sizes. There is also a fine Domestic Section displaying many exhibits, as well as a large Food Hall selling Local Produce, a Craft Hall, an indoor Shopping Mall and many Trade Stands selling a wide variety of goods
