A few minor ticks on reverse kept it from MS-64 in my opinion, as the coin has the eye appeal and luster of a MS-64. Excellent head detail and all rivets on shield are visible. Beginners in this series often expect the Full Head examples (like this one) to have the head detail of a 1917 Type 1 but such is not the case. New dies of somewhat lower relief were prepared for the 1917, and on a 1917, the full head detail will be quite bold compared to a full head 1916!That said, JH Cline, well known Standing Liberty Quarter expert and dealer describes three types of Full Head designations. The example here, has the strongest head of the date, and I've never seen a finer representation of a Full Head on a 1916!
