Description
Current Lot 1947 Booker Washington Coin Set MS66 PCGS MS-66 (PCGS). This is a group of 1947 Booker T. Washington commemorative half dollars from all three mints. All are certified as mint state 66. Each coin is commensurate with condition census status and the 1947-D is tied as a finest known with none better by PCGS. The 1947 is a correctly graded, fully lustrous half, spot free on an untoned planchet, that is as fresh as the day it was made. Minor surface ticks are noted on Washington's cheek which account for the grade. This coin has only four better, all in 67! The 1947-D is graded spot on and has subdued luster, yet is radiant and exhibits much in die polish and flow lines across the fields. The fields are crisp and clean of marks. This coin is tied as a finest known as there are none better by PCGS! The 1947-S is also correctly graded with subdued luster and a halo effect around Washington. This coin has a few more ticks and contacts than the previous two coins, but none show. It too is high on the list with but five coins better and all in 67! This trio is from the lowest mintage of the series with 6,000 coin sets struck and in the lofty spheres of mint state status. (3 Coins)
