Description
Current Lot 1946 Booker Washington Coin Set MS66 PCGS MS-66 (PCGS). This is a group of 1946 Booker T. Washington commemorative half dollars from each mint. All are certified as mint state 66 gem quality coins. The 1946 exhibits a radiant luster with the beginnings of toning on the obverse. Minimal surface marks and the solid strike dictate this as a correctly graded coin. The 1946-D is also fully struck and has a lovely golden cast to the surfaces. Smooth surfaces with traces of hidden contact. The 1946-S is simply magnificent in its visuals. It too is fully struck with blazing luster and a halo effect on both sides around the devices. The stunning aspect of this coin is the original toning that is full on both sides. The obverse has a bluish-beige coloring that shimmers with the luster coming forth. The reverse is more dramatic with a rainbow of electric purple, blue, orange, and yellow in a 3/4 curve around the periphery fading to the center in a light green. Again, the luster is abundant. This toning is indicative of original cardboard holders retaining the coin around the rim. Graded correctly although giving the appearance of a higher number. (3 Coins)
