The surfaces are smooth and exhibit a beautiful shine, and both Liberty and the American Eagle look very sharp. This is a top-notch specimen that would make a superb addition to any Saint Gaudens or general gold-type collection. 1907 marked the introduction of the Saint Gaudens Double eagle, a coin that is considered by many to be the most beautiful American coin ever minted.
