We proudly present another absolutely astounding Liberty Head Gold Half Eagle. This rare, 1901 offering exhibits an extremely bold strike on both sides of the coin. It appears that it was removed from circulation immediately after mintage, then stored securely under lock and key for its entire life. It has perfect details on all areas of the coin, such as on the tiniest feathers on the Bald Eagle's wings, and on every last hair on Liberty. This could well be one of the finest remaining examples of the year still in existence. Guaranteed genuine, the coin displays incredible, spinning, cartwheel type mint luster. It revolves around the coin when rotated under a light. This is the hallmark of premium quality coins. The reeded edge is laser sharp and perfect. It comes with very few distractions, and to the human eye, as well as upon 5X magnification looks stupendous. The hue is a glorious blend of very rich, vivid yellow-gold-green-rose colors, which when viewed at under an appropriate lighting source look supreme. Original mintage figures for the year, stand at 615,900 coins, of which it's estimated that just a tiny percentage still exist in uncirculated condition. This is a truly beautiful coin. On April 5, 1933, by order of the President of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, it became illegal to own gold coins. The exceptions were gold coins and gold certificates in an amount not exceeding in the aggregate $100.00 belonging to any one person. The confiscation and subsequent meltdown of gold commodities was implemented to provide relief in the existing national emergency in banking, and to stabilize the national money supply. This resulted in the near extinction of all gold coinage. In 1975, when the ban was finally lifted, virtually all of the premium quality gold coins were extinct. They are arguably among the most beautiful coins ever designed. Combined with their extreme rarity, and the very high price of gold, it's no wonder that these coins are among the most sought after of any coins ever minted in the United States. In higher grades, they are priceless, and as demand far exceeds supply, this trend will continue. Someday, the opportunity to own one of these magnificent gems may be gone forever. They are, and always will be, a very important part of American history. In our opinion, this coin appears to be in near gem BU/MS condition, however, since grading is subjective, this is not a guarantee. Please view our detailed photographs, then decide for yourself. We know that the most avid collector or investor will be delighted owning this gorgeous coin, and we sincerely thank you for taking the time to view our auctions. For long-term storage, in a safety deposit box or elsewhere, we recommend storing your coin in a PVC free environment, such as in the 2.5" x 2.5" plastic flip that will be included free of charge with your purchase. (Click Here) To View Our Other Items For Sale(Click Here) To Be Notified Of New Coin Listings  About UsThank you for shopping at Saratoga Springs Coins, where we treat you like family. Direct lighting is used to show a coins luster, while indirect lighting is used to better display a coins details. However, since the coins that we sell are up to 250 years old; it would be impossible for us to say with total certainty, whether or not a coin has been cleaned, altered, etc., at some point during its lifespan.  If I send my coin to a third party grading company, can you guarantee that it will receive a certain grade? Due to the subjective nature of coin grading, it would be impossible for us to guarantee a specific grade your coin will receive, or if it will be gradable at all. Third party grading companies often assign a different grade to the same coin. Coin grading is part art and part science. This is why we give you a full 7 days to determine if it meets your expectations. We make every effort to purchase only the finest quality unaltered specimens, and guarantee that all of the coins we sell are authentic. By sending your coin to a third party grading company, you are voiding your right to return it. However, upon submitting our coins, many of our customers have been delighted to receive extremely high MS grades from the top tier third party grading companies in business today.    Can a coin with numerous bag marks still receive a high MS grade? Virtually every coin ever minted has bag marks. These are caused by contact with other coins when placed inside a bag for shipment to a bank. Numerous high grade MS examples of rare coinage have bag marks or other imperfections, even on key areas of the coin. Can we give advice on coins that we don't sell?If you seek advice on coins that you own, please bring them to a local coin dealer. It's not possible for us to offer opinions on coins that aren't in our possession. Millions of U.S. gold coins were recalled to the U.S. treasury in 1933 where they were melted into gold bars and forever destroyed. From 1933 to 1975, it was a crime to invest in gold. As a result, certain dates have become nearly extinct, making them almost priceless in the eyes of collectors. Even the more common dates are becoming increasingly scarce. Only a tiny fraction of the original mintages have survived to this day. The beautiful specimens that we sell are among the rarest examples of gold mintage remaining in the world. The great gold recall and meltdown of 1933 left a mere pittance of the original mintage. Today, almost all of the desirable specimens, such as we sell, have been reduced to just a few thousand (or less) of most years, making them among the scarcest of any coins ever minted in the United States. Payment and InsurancePayment is required in full within 48 hours, no exceptions.
