Grading With over 20 years of experience, we use the ANA standards for coin grading. Grading for the most part is technical and not subjective!  A circulated coin will have a certain amount of wear (not to be confused with strike) to meet a certain grade.  Mint State coins vary based on strike, contact marks, and "eye appeal" (the only subjective part).  Problem coins result in "net grading".  If we feel a "slabbed" coin is not properly graded, we will notate that in the description. On a couple of occasions, we have sent the same coin to the same grading service and got it back with a grading difference of 2-3 MS points!
