Description 1854O Liberty Seated Quarter in AU-58. A quick note before we start...The photos don't come CLOSE to showing how lustrous this coin is! It's SO reflective that I had to hold it TWO feet away from the camera otherwise it picked up reflections of the green, black and grey front where the lens is. Therefore I had to enlarge each photo and thereby losing much of the sharpness that this coin has. It's really a SUPER sharp strike which is very unusual for this date and mint. Either way, I have no doubt you will go bananas for this coin when you see it in person. JUST out of my personal collection, I had been trying for MANY years to find an upgrade for the F-12 I had and I finally found this nice AU-58 and then suddenly a few weeks later I found a PCGS MS-61 for sale and I paid WAY too much money for it but it's a REALLY tough coin in higher grades so now this one goes up for sale. This is a nice, highly lustrous "Slider" AU-58 and the Complete Guide to Liberty Seated Quarters by Larry Briggs states that AU or better coins are "rare." Considering how long I have been looking, I can tell you, he's darn right! It's an extremely nice specimen and tougher to locate than one would think considering it's mintage. It seems most went into circulation and stayed there! This date is rarely offered for sale on eBay in grades above F-12 as I have been looking for a long time and they just don't seem to be around. The color is a medium silvery grey with attractive light golden album toning. eBay does not permit me to list prices from any price guide so you'll have to look it up for yourself. (Sorry.)
