A typical Australian response - thumb your nose at authority- saw tradesman commissioning tokens to be used in place of small change- this medal- the same size as the old penny token is modeled on the TOBverse used mainly on "Peace & Plenty" tokens and the Kangaroo & Emu reverse used eventually as Australia's Coat of Arms (with modification) The medal is 35mm in diameter. They list in Carlisle's work on Australian medals as #1949/3 The medal is in AS STRUCK condition with a litle toning on higher points. It is a VERY desirable numismatic medal.
