Description     This is the lowest mintage $2.50 of this entire series. No coins were struck for circulation and only 20 proofs were struck, presumably as gifts for dignitaries or special collectors. What is unusual about these coins is no proofs were sold to the public until 1859. This coin was designed by Christian Gobrecht. This specimen is a beautiful coin for the grade having a brilliant golden color, good luster, and some proof surfaces remaining. It is a problem free coin with excellent eye appeal. JBH & Co.
