Description
This Feuchtwanger Token has been graded and certified AU55 by NGC. It is HT-268(3E). Lewis Feuchtwanger produced the coin which was a variety of German silver consisting of nickel, copper, and some zinc. He had suggested to Congress that his metal be substituted for copper as early as 1837. He made this one-cent piece, as well three-cent trial pieces that actually circulated freely during the coin shortage of 1836-1844. This particular piece did see some of that circulation. Slight wear is evident, but the coin is still attractive. This neat piece of history would make an excellent addition to any coin collection! The REDBOOK lists this coin for $325 in AU and for $500 in UNC. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! Check out my other items! Be sure to add me to your favorites list!
